Adaptive Dock Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 October 2026

In short: Adaptive Dock keeps your app usage on your Mac. The only data that leaves your Mac is your licence key and your Mac's name, sent to Dodo Payments to check the licence. I (the developer) do not receive, store, sell or share your usage. There are no ads, analytics, trackers or accounts.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy covers the macOS app Adaptive Dock, made by Onkar Sarvade (“I”, “me”) under the name Ship on Friday, and downloaded from shiponfriday.com. It explains what the app records, where that information stays, and the one thing it sends over the internet.

2. What the app records on your Mac

To rank your apps, Adaptive Dock records:

What Why
Which app is in front, and for how long To rank apps by how much you use them. Time only counts while you’re active: idle time (over 5 minutes), a locked screen and sleep are not counted. You can turn tracking off in Settings at any time.
How many times you switched to each app Part of the ranking.
macOS’s own record of the days each app was opened (Spotlight’s “last used” dates) So suggestions work from day one, before Adaptive Dock has its own history. This is read on your Mac and not copied anywhere else.
Copies of your Dock layout Saved before every change so you can restore an earlier Dock.
Your profiles and settings So the app remembers how you set it up.

Adaptive Dock does not record window titles, document names, website addresses, keystrokes, screenshots or anything you type.

3. Where your information is stored

Everything above is stored only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Adaptive Dock/. It is not uploaded, synced or backed up by the app. You can erase your usage history in Settings → Privacy, or delete that folder.

4. The licence check (the only network connection)

Adaptive Dock connects to the internet only to check your licence with Dodo Payments, which sells and issues Adaptive Dock licences:

  • When you activate, the app sends your licence key and your Mac’s name (so you can tell your activations apart). Dodo Payments replies with whether the key is valid, and the email address the licence belongs to, which is shown in Settings.
  • About once a week, it sends your licence key and the activation ID to confirm the licence is still valid (for example, that it hasn’t been refunded).
  • When you deactivate, it sends the same two values to free the licence for another Mac.

No usage data, app names or Dock layouts are ever sent. If you never activate a licence, the app makes no network connections at all.

5. Buying a licence

Purchases are handled entirely by Dodo Payments as the merchant of record. They collect your name, email address, billing country and payment details to process the payment, calculate tax and email your receipt and licence key. I don’t receive your card details. Dodo Payments’ privacy policy applies to the purchase.

6. What I don’t do

  • No ads, analytics, crash reporting or tracking SDKs.
  • No account or sign-in.
  • I don’t sell or share any data, because I don’t receive your usage at all.

7. Children

Adaptive Dock is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app starts sending any other data, this policy will say so before that version is released.
