Inboxwise Privacy Policy
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy covers the Android app Inboxwise: SMS Organizer (package app.smsanalyser), published on Google Play by Onkar Sarvade (“I”, “me”). It explains what the app accesses on your device, why, and what happens to that information.
2. What the app accesses and why
Inboxwise is a default SMS app. To work as one, and to organise your messages, it asks for the following Android permissions. Everything below is processed only on your device.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| SMS and MMS (read, receive, send) | Showing your conversations, receiving and sending messages, and analysing message text on the phone to find transactions, bills, deliveries, one-time codes and scam warnings. Granted only after you choose Inboxwise as your default SMS app. |
| Contacts (optional) | Showing names and photos instead of numbers, and keeping messages from people you know out of the money and bill analysis. |
| Phone state (optional) | Letting you pick which SIM sends a message on dual-SIM phones. |
| Notifications (optional) | Alerting you to new messages, bill reminders and unusual payments. |
| Biometrics | Optional app lock with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. The app never sees your biometric data; Android only tells it whether you were verified. |
The app does not access your location, camera, microphone, photos or files (except a file you explicitly pick, for example when you export or import something).
3. On-device analysis and AI
- Message analysis uses rules and a small AI language model that both run on your phone. Your messages are never sent to me or to any AI service.
- On supported phones, the AI model file is downloaded once through the Google Play Store (Play Asset Delivery). Google Play handles that download like any app update; the app sends none of your data with it. Google’s own privacy policy applies to Google Play.
- The Inboxwise AI chat runs on the phone as well. It cannot read your messages, and chats are kept in memory only: they are not saved and are gone when you leave the chat.
4. Where your information is stored
- Your messages are stored in Android’s system SMS/MMS store on your phone, as with any SMS app.
- What the app derives from them (categories, transactions, reminders, your corrections, stars and settings) is stored in an encrypted database on your phone. Its key is protected by the Android Keystore.
- This database is excluded from cloud backups and device-to-device transfers, so it never leaves the phone that created it.
5. Sharing
I do not share your data with anyone, because the app never sends it off your device. Information only leaves your phone when you choose to send it, for example:
- sending an SMS or MMS: it goes through your mobile carrier to the person you are messaging, like any text message;
- reporting a spam message to India’s official complaint number 1909 (TRAI): the app prepares the message and you send it yourself as an SMS;
- exporting your transactions to a CSV file, sharing a message, or copying a code: the data goes only where you save, share or paste it.
6. Data I collect
None. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code, has no accounts, and has no internet permission (you can check this in Android Settings → Apps → Inboxwise → Permissions). I receive no information about you or how you use the app.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
- The app’s data stays on your phone until you delete it. Uninstalling Inboxwise, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, deletes all of it.
- Your messages themselves stay in Android’s SMS store after uninstalling, so you keep them when you switch SMS apps. You can delete messages inside Inboxwise or any other SMS app.
- Because I hold no data about you, there is nothing for me to access, correct or delete on request, but you are welcome to contact me with any question.
8. Security
App data is encrypted at rest, an optional app lock protects the app, amounts can be hidden on screen, and screenshots of the app can be blocked in its settings.
9. Children
Inboxwise is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app ever needs to handle data differently, the policy will be updated before that version is released.
